**Physics and Physics Honors**

## Course Description

An algebra-based physics course using Apologia physics introduces students to the concepts of Newton's laws, statics, dynamics, thermodynamics, optics, dc circuits, waves, electromagnets, and special relativity. The course provides a detailed introduction to the methods and concepts of general physics, heavily emphasizing vector analysis. The topics are covered in a depth equivalent to an introduction to physics for non-science/non-engineering majors. The college-prep course is best suited for all high school students wishing to satisfy a natural science with lab requirement and for those wishing to test out of a college first-year algebra-based physics course.

Religious Content: Textbook has a Christian focus; not emphasized in class lectures.

Honors credit is awarded to those students who successfully complete the honors assignments.

Prerequisite: Students must have completed Algebra 2 (any textbook or curriculum) and been introduced to the definitions of sine, cosine, and tangent.
