SCHOOL POLICIES

Inclement Weather Policy    (8/8/2020)

In the event of a natural disaster, our students’ and teachers’ safety is our top priority. Preparatory Academy, Inc. will work closely with all families who are impacted to ensure there is no penalty for missed classes and that the coursework can be covered appropriately.

Affected families and teachers are advised to stay safe and follow the emergency guidelines issued by local and state authorities.

If you could potentially be impacted by a natural disaster, we recommend the following:
1.       Contact your learning pod instructor beforehand to set up a list of activities or projects that can be completed offline if you lose internet.
2.       If you know that you will be evacuating your area and will not be able to attend courses for a specific number of days, contact your learning pod instructor to devise a learning plan.

If you are impacted by a natural disaster, unexpectedly:
1.       Contact your students’ pod instructor as soon as possible.
2.       Students can collaborate with teacher to create an appropriate learning plan during this temporary loss of internet. Please note that extended absences of over 15 days may require students to attend approved summer courses.

If an instructor is impacted by a natural disaster:
1.       Students and parents will be notified as soon as possible.
2.       Changes will be made to student scheduling to create the least disruption in student schedule. These may include:
a.       Substitute instructors
b.       Extended interest and specialist courses for days affected
c.       Restructuring of the weekly schedule
Affected teachers may result in course schedule changes. Because every situation is different and unique, we cannot predict every eventuality, we recommend communicating openly with your pod instructor.
