Community Initiatives
We strive to empower students. Preparatory Academy helps students understand the tools they have in their lives and in academics in order to better understand the world around them. One of the tools we all have are the people around us. We encourage students to reach out to each other and to their instructors to build a community that grows together. We believe that students have things that they can teach even their instructors. We encourage students to take on community initiatives and turn their ideas into action. Preparatory Academy also encourages involvement in local community. We support community service activities as well as involvement in athletics, clubs, organizations and entrepreneurial activities.
Student Leadership
At Preparatory Academy we know that education is about more than just academics. It is about engaging the mind and creating meaningful connections. Our students grow through as they follow their passions. We create leadership opportunities and encourage students to engage in social activities within our school community.
With social distancing we understand that now more than ever it is important for our students to have time to socialize and just be kids. While virtual, our online school is designed to be interactive and engaging. We give students time to work together, study together, and just have fun together. Students develop their interpersonal skills and take on leadership roles in the classroom and in the community.

Study Groups
Students can form independent study groups to help each other review and understand the material. Students who are excelling in a subject area may be invited to mentor another student. Small group discussions can open conversation and allow students to share their interests and struggles. Working and talking together our students are a part of a community.
Group Projects
Preparatory Academy uses a project-based learning approach. Students are given group projects and have the opportunity to meet in their project groups. They are given tools that let them share project notes and work together. Students will be assigned various roles within these project groups and will each have opportunities to demonstrate leadership.
